The Logo of Dadar Athornan Institute depicts an Afarganyu (fire-vase) with blazing fire. Fire symbolises the quest for inner growth and development. The Afarganyu is also a symbol of Zoroastrian rituals, as it is essential in all fire-temples and for all rituals.
The Afarganyu is flanked by a chamach (ladle) on the right and a gurz (cow/bull-headed mace) on the left. The chamach is a symbol of tending fire and hence symbolises priesthood. The gurz symbolises priestly authority.
At the bottom of the Afarganyu is a book with the words Ashem Vohu, Yatha ahu and Yenghe hatam written in Avestan script. This book symbolises the sacred scriptures of the Zoroastrians, of which the priests have been custodians since times immemorial.
At the bottom are three words — Wisdom, Spirituality and Service — which should be the watchwords of an ideal priest. Wisdom is the ability to use the knowledge. Spirituality is the ability to see the divinity within oneself, as well as other humans and creations. Service is the virtue which makes one do the work of Ahura Mazda.
If an Athornan keeps the above logo and its message in mind, he will always be reminded of his duties and obligations, which will enable him to be an ideal Athornan — priest.
