  • 4th June 22 : Institute re-opened for all students after a long period on account of Covid.

  • On 25th September, the Dadar Athornan Institute was featured in Mazda Multimedia’s bi-monthly You Tube programme “”Our Very Own”.
  • Dec 17th: Annual Day of Institute. About 170 guests gathered at the Mancherji Joshi Hall in the Institute’s Annexe Building. Dasturji Khurshed K. Dastur presided over the function. Dr. Beheram J. Bunshah was the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by his wife Dinmeher, who distributed the prizes. The students programme included a talk on Maratab and a short skit “Let us Understand Chhaiye Ame Zarthoshti.” Afterwards snacks were served.
  • Jan 21st: Educational Field trip to Doongerwadi, organized with Empowering Mobeds. Er. Dr. Ramiyar Karanjia gave a talk on Dokhmenashini and had an interactive session. Thereafter the students visited the Vatcha Gandhi Agyari and had a sumptuous lunch.
  • 29th Jan: Meeting with Mr. Neville Sadri and Mr. Tamboly with the parents and students of the Institute for informing the parents about the scheme whereby each student of the Institute will get an amount of Rs. 5,000/- per month, set aside against his name in the WZO Trust, and compounded till the student completes his Navar, Maratab and SSC. The cumulative amount which would be close to around 8 to 10 laks will be handed over to the student as an FD after the student completes his SSC and will come in his hands after he attains the status of a major.

  • 29th Jan: Cub Scouts Sports Competition. The following students won: Pashang D. Karanjia – 50 m III, Throwing cricket ball – II, Backward run – III, 100 m – II; Delyaz M. Panthaki - Backward run – I; Backward run – II, Throwing cricket ball – II.
  • 19th Feb: All Parsi Sports. Maidyarem Chinoy won the under 12 Boys Championship trophy and 3 Gold medals for 100m. run, 300 m. run and long jump and 1 silver medal for relay. Zhiyan M. Turel won Gold medal in relay and Bronze medal in Shot put; Berjis Bharda won Silver medal in relay; Shahan Bhesadia won silver medal in relay.
  • 26th Feb: Creative Child Genius Competition at J.B.Vatcha High School. The following students won: Delyaz M. Panthaki – 1st consolation, Maidhyarem K. Chinoy – 2nd consolation, Farman S. Dastur – 1st consolation.

INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES HIGHLIGHTS:
  • On 13th June, an online farewell Party was organized for outgoing SSC students, along with Empowering Mobeds. Dasturji Khurshed, Mr. Dinshaw Tamboly and the Principal briefly addressed the students.The 5 outgoing SSC students gave brief farewell speeches. Eats were sent to the houses of all students, even outstation students. Various games were organized by Mr. Arish S. Daruwalla, in which prizes and Amazon gift vouchers were given by Empowering Mobeds.
  • Institute functioned in an online mode in the first term. Tuitions, prayer classes as well as Parents Teachers meetings were held in online mode.
  • An online creative workshop, held by a reputed children’s author was attended by most students.
  • In the second term, the school and Institute started working partially with 9 senior students from Std. VIII to XI from November. Then once again it closed for one month in January 22 and resumed in physical mode for Std. V-X from February.
  • On 22nd August two of our students Er. Farmaan Sarosh Dastur and Er. Zahan Meherzad Turel were scheduled speakers for the Ba-Humata Khordad Sal Online programme.
  • On 6th September, a “Nutri-Bag” with healthy nutritious pulses and eatables was given for each of our student in a Central Government and Parzor Programme in the Institute Hal presided by Mrs. Smriti Irani and Mr. Mukhtar Naqvi.

INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Empowering Mobed Training Camp at Sanjan in February. 12 students and a staff member went. There were interactive educational sessions and games during the two days.
  • All Junior students went for ZOSTA Programme to Albless Baug in February 2020. They sang a Monajat and had dinner thereafter.
  • February issue of Parsiana carried the report of Institute’s centenary celebration and brief interviews of the Institute’s staff members.

Ten students participated and won medals as follows: Maiyarem Chinoy - 3 Gold; Syamak Sanjana – 1 Gold, 2 Bronze; Karl Sidhwa – 3 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze; Syamak Dastoor – 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 3 Bronze; Fravash Gulestan – 1 Bronze; Varzavand Dadachanji- 1 Gold, 1 silver; Sohrab Vimadalal – 3 Bronze; Farsogar Bhesadia – 1 Silver, 1 Bronze; Shahvir Panthaki – 3 Gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze.
  • 7 students went for All Parsi Sports at University stadium on 29th February 2020. Maidyarem Chinoy won Silver medal for 50m. run. The students were taken and brought from the even by parents Mr. & Mrs. Chinoy. Some events will be on 1st March also.

March 2020 onwards
Owing to the rising threat of Corona virus and the precautions that need to be taken, the DPYA School had closed down since around 10th March. The exams of students were also cancelled. 

Students were sent home on 23rd March. Immediately the next day, Lockdown was imposed in the country by the Prime Minister.

All students were promoted, but 2 students of Std. IX who had not fared well in the previous semester had to give a re-test later. All other students were passed and promoted.

On account of the continued Covid-19 restrictions, schools were not opened physically in June and hence our Institute also did not start physically.

15th June, the DPYA High School online classes for all students in the morning from 9.00 am, with varying number of periods for different standards, and hence Tuitions by Institute academic teachers also started online.

From 1st July Bhantar lesson and revision sessions were taken online every day from 5 to 6 pm. 

In November two mini fire extinguishers were gifted for the Institute by WZO. On 9th Dec, The Zoroastrian Charity Funds of Hong Kong, Canton and Macau, through the WZO Trust Funds and the good offices of Mr. Dinshaw Tamboly, gave gifts of Lenovo Laptops to students from Std. V to X and Bhantar teachers.

INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Justice Ambadas Joshi, and Prof. Mariano Erichiello from SOAS London visited the Institute.
  • Three Workshops were conducted through the Mobed Empowerment Programme. One was the team-building workshop by Ms. Urveez Kakalia and Mrs. Benaifer Sahukar, the other was Creative Writing Workshop by Ms. Shernaaz Engineer, and the third was “Parents-Child communication” workshop by various counselors like Dr. Keki Chawda.
  • The Mobed Empowerment Programme also conducted friendly foot-ball matches between students, parents and some other priests at Parsi Gymkhna grounds, Dadar.
  • In April, an Art workshop by the NGO Iteeha was organised, by Mr. Fredun Medhora and his team. Three art styles of Shiburi – tie and dye, Block printing and Fluid Art were taught to students and staff.
  • In June, a new teacher, Mr. Udit Agarwala, was appointed for students of Std. VIII and IX for Maths and Science
  • Er. Zahan M. Turel was elected Assistant Head Boy of the DPYA High School, AND Er. Varzavand H. Dadachanji was selected Prefect of the Middle section.
  • Prof. Mrs. Navaz N. Dubash, started an additional class for English conversation and writing skills for Junior students.
  • Er. Amavand R. Panthaky received a prize for standing third in SSC among all Parsi students of the DPYA High School.
  • The Lions club of Byculla presented an Aqua-Guard water filter for students.
 
ACTIVITIES & OUTINGS:
  • Through the year, picnics and outings were arranged through the DPYA High School to Essel World, Tikuji ni Wadi, Movie Museum, Kala Ghoda Festival, Jijamata Udyan and Bhau Daji Laud Museum.
  • Outings were alsoarranged from the Institute to Tarapore, Cultural Fair (Anad Mela), Ekadashi fair, monsoon walk, Gully Boy movie, Parsi Gujarati play and “Monsoon Magic” fun activity.
  • Students participated in programmes and dinners organized by Iran league, MEJMT Trust and Farohar Film's exhibition at Albless Baug.
    Mr. Porus Buhariwala has been giving bus for picnics and outings.

INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES:
  • Through the year, the following academics visited the Institute: Prof. Dr. Khodadad Rezakhani, Prof. of Sasanian and late antique History; Dr. Dario Ergos a South American author and researcher; Tsugusato Omura an author from Japan.
  • On Thursday 20th April, about 30 ex-students of the Institute, especially from the batches from 1980 to 2000, came together for the first time for an ex-students get-together and contributory dinner at the Institute. Er. Jamshed P. Dastur facilitated the whole evening's programme, where servants and staff were also felicitated.
  • In November, a team of researchers under Dr. Almut Hintze of SOAS, University of London, came for the Multimedia Yasna Project. They documented the performance of Yasna ritual and the activities of the students over a period of time.
  • A new monthly class was started under Mr. Neville Dubash to teach different curricular and non-curricular aspects of Computers.
  • Regular motivational and linguistic development classes are held by Prof. Mrs. Navaz Dubash.
  • From July Football coaching was introduced as a new activity under Mr. Farhad Dhunjisha. Farohar Foundations gifted football jersey and pants with our Institute logo.
  • In July our student Er. Amavand R. Panthaki was elected the Assistant Head boy of the DPYA High School.
  • Er. Farzan K. Dastur was awarded a trophy for standing first in SSC among all Parsi students of the DPYA High School.
  • In October the Lions club of Byculla presented a 7 kg Siemens Dryer machine.

  • Parent Teacher Management meetings are held twice a year.
  • In March About 30 youths from all over the world participating in the "Return to Roots" programme came to the Institute to see and understand the institute and interact with some of the senior students.
  • In March about 40 children along with their parents from the XYZ Programme came to the Institute to understand the meaning and significance of Fire temple, things inside it and the boi ritual. Our students also participated in the explanation and demonstration.
  • In June, a new once a month motivational activity was introduced under Prof. Mrs. Navaz Dubash to develop and hone literary and linguistic skill of students.
  • A new Washing Machine, a 14 ltr Oven and a 40 inch LED TV were received as gifts from well-wishers, in August and October.

  • In January, staff and students along with the cubs and scouts group of Dadar went for a one day hike cum picnic to Lohagad Fort near Lonavla.

2 NEW ADMISSIONS – Hormazd Kerman Fatakia and Sharukh Kaizad Karkaria, both in Std. II. Two students left - Er. Hormazd B. Aibada after IX and Mst. Pirran S. BehramKamdin after Std. II. Two other students Er. Malcolm D. Hozdar and Er. Kayomarz H. Panthaki left after SSC. Er. Farhad F. Shroff finished SSC and continues as College student.

Total Strength 2014-2015: 20 students (16 school + 4 college students) No NAVAR during the year. 1 student, Ardeshirshaw R. Nariman underwent Maratab in Mumbai. Bhantar exams conducted by Er. Darayus P. Bajan. He has been conducting these exams since than 10 years. We are grateful to him for devoting his valuable time and giving guidance to students.

SSC results: Er. Kayomarz H. Panthaki – 78%; Er. Malcolm D. Hozdar – 72 %; Er. Farhad F. Shroff - 61%.
 
Special Mention:
  • Ardeshirshaw R. Nariman: In DPCG sports held in April 2014, he won 4 Gold and 5 silver medals. In the Head turners personality contest of MEJMT he won the Consolation prize. In the Inter-school Vogue Personality contest he became Mr. Congeniality. In the Zo-child day in November he was awarded an Award for Excellence in Athletics. In the DPYA school sports he won 6 Gold Medals and 1 Silver medal. He also won two championships – one for being the best athlete in his age group and the second for being the best male athlete.

  • Master Zahan M. Turel of Std. IV selected the Primary Prefect of the DPYA High School. This is the first time that our student has been selected for this prestigious position.

Er. Yazad Mandviwala (in August) and Er. Peshotan Katrak (in November)– 2 of our college students left after finishing their respective courses. Exactly last year, one of our College students Er. Kaywan M. Dastur passed away in a tragic road accident on the night of 15th December 2012.

A new Teacher Mrs. Mahbanu Contractor was appointed to teach English, History and Geography to students of Std. VIII & IX. She will teach on an honorary basis in place of tuition teacher Mrs. Deepali Aggarwal who discontinued her services from 1 June 2012.

Picnic - trekking to Peth fort (1500 ft), 30 kms from Karjat. All Institute students and some staff members were accompanied by four experienced trekkers headed by Mr. Sarosh Cooper. Breakfast and lunch were also provided by Mr. Cooper. 15 Cubs and guides had also joined the trek. (Parents Day postponed by a week).
Sports of Hanosh Dastur Std. XI at B.J.P.C. He won medals in the following events: Gold Medal - 4 X 100m. Relay; Gold Medal - 200 m. race; Silver Medal - Long Jump, 100 m. race Silver Medal, Bronze medal, Cycle race Silver Medal.
Special Report:
On 9th, college students Kayvan and Kurush Dastur performed the Navar ceremony of Er. Zahan Percy Madon. They were involved in the ceremony right from the beginning to the end (giving of Bareshnum, performing Gevra and Navar) in the Rustom Faramna Agyari, Dadar. Two new cycles for students were gifted by Zahan Percy Madan.

Open Day at D.P.Y.A. High Schools. Teachers and some parents went to see the Terminal Exam papers of students.
Wed. 21st:
Annual Day of D.P.Y.A. High School. All students and some staff members attended the Programme at Shanmukhananda Hall.
Sun. 11th :
Annual Day of our Institute. About 200 guests gathered at the Mancherji Joshi Hall in the Madressa Annexe Building. Dasturji Khurshed K. Dastur presided over the function. Dasturji Kaikhushru N. Dastoor Meherjirana of Navsari was the Chief Guest and Honourable Mr. Justice Shahrukh Jimi Kathawala and Mrs. Mahrukh Noble were the Guests of Honour.

Trophies, crystal momentos, cash prizes and certificates were given to successful students in various categories such as Bhantar, School Studies, Religious Knowledge, Shahnameh and Sports. 2 Senior Mobed Sahebs were felicitated for life time achievements and one for long years of service as full time Mobed. The students' programme included a short talk, a Shahnameh recital a humorous skit, a skating performance and a display of mathematical and memory skills.
Sat. 18th:
10 students participated in the Iran league Shahnameh competition at Gamadia school, princess street. All won prizes.
Thu. 22nd:
Institute closed for Christmas holidays. One SSC student - Er. Shahzad D. Hozdar was made to stay back for tuitions.

Started using the new uniforms for formal wear for outside functions bought from a donation.

The process of re-organising and arranging the Institute Library started, with some post graduate Avesta students who volunteered to work at their convenience, under the direction of supervision of the Principal.

7 students participated in All Parsi Sports at Marine Lines Gymkhana. None was successful.

Two students Jehan Bhesania and Kayomarz Panthaki participated in the Khareghat Colony open singing competition. From among 80 participants, they were selected for the finals on 20th, but did not eventually win.

Sat. - Sun. 26th-27th:
Students and staff members went for a picnic to Jungle Adventure camp at Ashfali Village, about 10 kms. from Bordi. The entire trip was organized and sponsored by Mr. Sarosh Sam Cooper along with other well-wishers – Burges Cooper, Rustom Jesia and Zubin Fatakia. They themselves being experienced in adventure sports and trekking also accompanied our group. Bus was provided free by Mr. Poras F. Buhariwala.

On the first day, the students participated in adventure sports which included Rifle shooting, archery and giant catapult shooting. An obstacle course race was organized for all students which included, high rope walking, swinging, vertical climbing, crawling, monkey walking, and beam walking. Mstr. Farhad Shroff emerged winner in this competition. All this was done under the expert guidance and supervision of camp-in-charge Mr. Surya Choudhary and his team. They first taught the technique of doing everything in the morning session and then made the students do it under their supervision in the afternoon-evening session. The day ended with a campfire where student put up items, sang Shahnameh, film and devotional songs and ended the day with Chaiye ame Zarthoshti.

Early in the morning the following day was the 3 hour hike to Bahrot mountains in which all students participated. On reaching the top we visited the historic Bahrot caves, where we had breakfast followed by a short speech about the religious and historic significance of the place and a hambadagi. After the descent other adventure sports of river crossing and rappling was done by all. There was lunch at the foot of Bahrot mountains. We set out for Mumbai at around 4:30 pm.

Navjote of Zaryas and Rayan Ruzbeh Davar. All students and staff members were invited and were taken in a special bus to Albless Baug for reception and dinner.
Wed. 12th:
Prof. Albert deJong from Leiden University visited the Institute and talked with the students about his work on Parthian history and about the book on the same topic which he is working, on after the demise of Prof. Dr. Mary Boyce, continuing from where she left.
Sun. 23rd:
Bombay Parsee Association Bhantar competition. 10 students participated. Mstr Taronish H. Kotwal won the first prize (Juniors) and Mstr Hormazd B. Aibada won the first prize among Seniors.
Tue. 26th:
All students (except SSC) and staff went to Tarapore by bus for Jashan and Lunch to celebrate the Dharamshala Salgreh. They were invited by Er. Pallonji Dastoor.

Annual Day of our Institute. About 200 guests gathered at the Mancherji Joshi Hall in the Institute Annexe Building. Dasturji Khurshed K. Dastur presided over the function. Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, Bart., was the chief guest. Trophies, crystal momentos, cash prizes and certificates were given to successful students in various categories such as Bhantar, School Studies, Religious Knowledge, Shahnameh and Sports. 9 Senior Mobed Sahebs from all over India were felicitated for long years of service as full time Mobeds. The highlight of the evening was Pyramids - a gymnastic display by the students of the Institute.
Thu. 16th:
Annual Day of D.P.Y.A. High School. All students and some staff members attended the Programme at Shanmukhananda Hall.
Sat. 18th:
10 students participated in the Iran league Shahnameh competition at Gamadia school, princess street. All won prizes.

All students were invited for Christmas party at Dadar Gymkhana.

Iran leagues Essay and Parsi Song competition Er. Shazad Hozdar won the First prize and Trophy and Mstr Farshid Dalal won the consolation prize in singing competition.
Sun. 10th:
A donor Mr. Jamasji presented gift coupons of Landmark Book store to all students. The students went to the bookstore at Phoenix Mills Compound to select books and stationery for themselves and thereafter went for a party to Mc Donald at the same venue sponsored by a donor.
Thu. 14th:
Annual Sports of DPYA High School. Our student Er. Hanoz Dastur won the following medals: 3 Silver medals in 400m and 100 m. run and 4 X 100 m relay; Bronze in 200m and 800 m runs, Discus throw and Javelin throw, and runners up in tug of war. He narrowly missed being the best athlete in his under 16 age group.

Navar and Maratab exams were conducted by Er. Darayas P. Bajan for the following students:
Navar: Mstr. Jehan V. Bhesania
Maratab: Er. Malcolm and Shazad Hozdar.
All three were declared successful and were given permission.

Students and staff members went for the English 3-D movie Avatar at PVR Multiplex and then dinner at McDonalds. The movie and dinner were sponsored by a donor.

Mstr Kayomarz H. Panthaki won 2nd prize in Hindi poem competition at the school. He was coached by Mrs. Havovi R. Karanjia.
Sun. 27th:
PARENTS DAY at the Institute. The Principal addressed the Parents about the changes in the system of evaluating students, the introduction of the system of giving more importance to daily assignments than tests, giving of grades instead of marks in the reports and the new evaluation systems introduced.
Tue. 29th:
The Lions club of Byculla donated provisions worth Rs. 5,000/- and another cheque for Rs. 18,000/- for the Institute. About 12 members of the Club came for the function in which the cheques were presented to the Principal.

Mr. Sagir Ahmed (popularly known as chacha) our night watchman for more than 20 years expired in his native home town. He served us till July 2010 as he was in good health till then.

6 Junior students (Std. I-IV) of the Institute join the Dadar Parsi Colony's Cub (Jr. Scout) group and will attend its weekly sessions every Sunday.

A weekly grammar and conversational English language class conducted by Mrs. Diana Perreira (Principal, DPYA High School) and Mrs. Geeta Sarup will be conducted at the Institute Library in three graded levels. Our students would be given free coaching in these class.

S.S.C. Results. Two students had appeared. Er. Sheherezade R. Pavri secured 94% and Er. Rayan D. Dastur secured 77%.

Two scholars of Iranian languages - Prof Dr. Yuhan Vevaina from Harvard and Dr. Mihela Timus from the university of Romania visited the Institute and interacted with the students.

4 students went for All Parsi Sports at University grounds. Er. Hanosh Dastur won 2 gold medals for Javelin throw and long jump.
Evening: Iran league Prize Distribution: 6 students went to collect prizes in various competitions and have dinner thereafter at Cama baug.
Sat. 20 - Sun. 21st:
Two day trek and picnic to Lonavla arranged with the help of Mr. Sarosh S. Cooper: Started at 6:30 am in bus given free by Mr. Porus Buhariwala.. Reached at around 9:30 at Barton lodge, Ryewood, Lonavala. Had Breakfast. Children and staff played till lunch time. After lunch went to see the fully automated bottling plant at Mulshi springs in 5 SUVs. It was an educational experience where the children saw the entire process of making mineral water - right from the making of plastic bottles from a 2 inch mould till washing, filling, checking, capping. labeling and packing. The following day before sunrise, students trekked for 3kms to the base of Duke's nose, and thereafter hiked up the mountain with the help of Sarosh, his brother Berjis and their friends Mr. Cyrus Langrana and Ms. Jasmin Siganporia who had specially come to help our students. After a hearty breakfast at the top of Duke's nose, there was an exciting descent after which we went to the lodge by our bus. After a sumptuous lunch sponsored by Mr. Perzon Zand and his friends, we had some rest and tea and started back for Mumbai at 4:00 pm.

A special audio-visual programme including a meditation session was given for 2 hours by Mr. Yazdi Munsif, to motivate and inspire the students to bring out the best in them.

Annual Day of D.P.Y.A. High School Golden Jubilee Year. All students and some staff members went to attend the Programme at Shanmukhananda Hall. Our students had participated in various items. Er. Shehrezad R. Pavri was selected to the Vote of Thanks.

The highlight of the programme was the Parsi Gujarati play "Barjorji no Barapo" 16 Senior Mobed Sahebs from all over India were felicitated for putting in more than 45 years of service as full time Mobeds.

Iran League Essay and Parsi Song competition. The prizes of Essay have not yet been announced. In Parsi song Ariz Dastur won the I prize and Hanoz Dastur IV Prize in Seniors. Among the Juniors, Farhad F. Shroff won the I prize, whereas Kayomarz panthaki and Dinshaw Magol won consolation prizes.
Mon. 23rd:
All students went for DPYA High School Sports (Sports) at St. Xavier' Ground, Parel with Er. Cyrus D. Sidhwa. Er. Hanosh R. Dastur won gold medal for Volleyball, silver medal for javeline throw, and bronze medal in long jump. Ariz P. Dastur won Silver medal in dodge-bal and Shehrezad pavri won Silver medal in Table tennis. Er Rayan Dastur, Mstr. Farhad Shroff, Taronish Kotwal and Farzan Dastur qualified for the finals.

Diwali Vacation starts.

During the vacation Er. Dinshah P. Magol (Std. V) underwent Maratab (Roj Daepadar mah Khordad 1379 AY 25th Oct. 09) at Udwada and successfully passed his Samel exam. Masters Shahzad and Malcolm Darayas Hozdar underwent Navar at Vatcha Gandhi Agyari, Mumbai (Roj tir mah Khordad - 30th Oct 09)
Special Report:
During the vacation the following Renovation work was undertaken:

1. Hall - Tiling work on the 3 walls surrounding the stage, painting and new concealed wiring and switchboards, Green room and basin, toilet in green room.
2. The toilet area of 1st and 2nd floor in New building painted. Wooden structures repaired, fully repaired and renovated, fitted with new toilets, basin and flooring.
3. One old metal water tank on terrace replaced with new Sintex one and new water connections from well for water to be used in kitchen and toilet.
4. Kitchen area for Hall changed from West side to East side. New water connection given there.

Sat. 1st:
Mr. Zak Colins from the Canada Radio Broadcasting Corporation had come. He is doing a story on the Parsis and has included our Institute as a Premium Zoroastrian Institution. He had a chat with the Principal about the history and the activities of the Insitute, and recorded sounds of prayer.
Mon: Thursday 25th:
Khordad Sal. All students accompanied by a staff member went to the Agiary in the morning an in the evening went for the Gujarati play Chhupo Rustom at Tejpal Auditorium. Tickets were given free by our Committee Member Er. Dr. Cyrus P. Dastoor.
Special Report:
* Two Display boards were kept in the Institute Office - one displaying ex-students of the Institute (since 1966) who are Nirang-din performers and the other displaying ex-students who have secured Distinction marks at the S.S.C. Exams.

* New Brochure for the Institute was printed, which has been sent to all Trustees and Committee members. It was almost 2 years in making and was the idea of Dasturji Khurshed K. Dastur. Drafting of the text was done with the help of Prof. Er. Nadir A. Modi.

Fri. 10th: Investiture ceremony of DPYA High School. It included the investiture of Master Shehrezad R. Pavri as Head-boy. For the first time in the history of the Institute, our student was selected Head-boy of the school. The Institute Principal was present at the Investiture.
Thu. 16th: Mre. Frenymai M. Desai ex-Matron of the Institute, who served for almost 10 years, expired at 5:15 pm.

One student – Areez Parvez Dastur - underwent Navar during the vacation at iranshah Atash Behram, Udwada, on 24th May 2009 (Roj 9 mah 10 1378 AY).

2. Meeting of Remedial teacher Kashmira Kakalia with parents of 4 of our Learning Disability students.

Remedial teacher Kashmira Kakalia will guide the 4 LD students twice a week – Tuesdays and Thursdays - gratis.

3. Prof. Dr. Anna Krasnowolska, Persian Professor of Jagiellonian University of Krakow, Poland along with Dr. Nawaz Modi, Trustee of the K.R.Cama Oriental Institute, visited The Institute and talked with the students.
Mon. 15th: DPYA High School re-opens after vacation. Uniforms have been changed to mark the Golden Jubilee of the school.
Fri. 19th: Er. Shehrezad R. Pavri is elected the Head boy of the D.P.Y.A. High School.
Thu 25th: S.S.C. Results. One student Er. Kerfegar H. Panthaki had appeared. He passed securing 48.6 %.
Sun 28th: 1. Athornan Mandal Trustees and governing Body meeting at the Institute.

2. Parents Day at the Institute.
Special Report: External Painting work of the Institute building and renovation of toilet blocks, gr. floor) and 3 bath-rooms (1st floor) completed by about the 15th of June. Started the work of painting the Verandah of the Institute.

Fri 1st: Final Report of all students received from the D.P.Y.A. High School.
No other activities on account of Summer Vacation.

Fri 10th: Second Terminal Exam of The Institute students ends.
Thu 16th: All students went for the Farohar Films’ exhibition closing ceremony, followed by dinner at Albless Baug. Senior students did the Ham-bandagi.
Fri 20th: New Admission to the Institute and the D.P.Y.A. School of Master Amavand Rumi Panthaki in Std. I.
Sat 25th: The Institute closes for May Vacation.

Sun 1st: The Institute was featured on TV9.
Mon 2nd: Received sports goods for students worth about Rs. 7,000/- from a Zarthoshti family in Chennai.
Fri 6th: 1. S. S.C. Exams begin. One student - Er. Kerfegar Panthaki appeared.
Sat 7th: DPYA School Open Day. The Institute teachers as well as some parents went to school to see the corrected Unit test papers.
Wed 11th: 14 our students participated in the Creative Child Genius Competition organised by Mancherji E. Joshi Trust held at J.B.Vatcha Girls High School.
Sat 14th: The Institute team of 9 students participated for the short skit (5 minutes) competition at J.B. Vatcha School on the theme "Vote Do". The Institute skit, written by the Principal was entitled "Vote for Mobed Pavri." They won a special audience appreciation prize.
Sun 15th: Annual Bhantar Examination of The Institute conducted by Ervad Darayus Parvez Bajan (Report enclosed).
Thu 20th: S.S.C. Exams ends
Tue 21th: Jamshedi Navroz. All students went to the Agyari in the morning.
In the evening all staff and students were invited by Mancherji E. Joshi Memorial Trust to the Dadar Parsee Gymkhana for Entertainment Programme and dinner.

Mon 30th: Report of Athornan Mandal Mobed felicitation appeared in FED newsletter.

Sat 7th: Students invited for a Parsi Gujarati play by a donor to Manik Sabhagriha, Bandra. 3 students went for All Parsi Sports competition to University grounds with college student Er. Jamsheed Sidhwa.
Sun 8th: All students went for Anand Mela (Fun fair) at DPYA school.
4 students went for All Parsi Sports competition to University grounds with college student Er. Jamsheed Sidhwa. Er. Sidhwa won medals in long Jump and Track events.
Sun 15th: Athornan Mandal’s Senior Mobed’s Felicitation Report and Dadar Athornan Institute’s Annual Report came in Jame Weekly.
Mon 16th - Fri 20th: IV Unit Test of Std. I - VIII.
Sat 21st: Selected 13 students went to the Food fiesta Fun Fair at J.B.Vatcha School with Senior college students.

Sun 25th: Parents Day & Annual Day of The Institute. More than 200 guests gathered at the Mancherji Joshi Hall in The Institute Annexe Building. Dasturji Khurshed K. Dastur presided over the function. Mr. Noshir H. Dadrawala was the chief Guest. Trophies, medals, cash prizes, books and certificates were given to successful students in various categories such as Bhantar, School Studies, Religious Knowledge, Shahnameh, Sports and Extra-curricular activities. The highlight of the programme was the English historical play "The Miracle of King Darab". 18 Senior Mobed Sahebs from all over India were felicitated for putting in more than 50 years of service as full time Mobeds.

Sun 9th: Institute reopens after Diwali holidays.
Mon 10th: Navar of student Dinshah Pourushasp Magol (Std.IV) atUdwada.
Thu 13th (Bank Holiday): All students and staff members were invited for dinner by the Ervad Vispi S. Dastur, President, Bombay Parsee Association at their Annual Prize Distribution Function at Albless Baug Eight of our students received prizes (See Feb 08 report).
Sat 15th: Open Day at D.P.Y.A. High Schools. Teachers and some parents went to see the Terminal Exam papers of students.
Sun 16th: The students participated for the Walk and Programme to create awareness about Multiple Sclerosis by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) at the Dadar Parsee Gymkhana in the morning (Report and photo appeared in Jame Jamshed dated 7th December.08).
Tue 18th: Students of Middle section and secondary went for DPYA High School Sports (heats) at St. Xavier’ Ground, Parel with Er. Cyrus D. Sidhwa.
Sun 23rd: outing – nature walk - to Kings Circle and Matunga and snacks thereafter.
Wed 26th: All students went for DPYA High School Sports (Sports) at St. Xavier’ Ground, Parel with Er. Cyrus D. Sidhwa. Er. Kerfegar H. Panthaki was the captain and and Er. Hanosh R. Dastur was a team –member of the winning Tug-of-War Team.

Mon. 6th: First Terminal Exam starts.
Wed 8th: Wed 8th: The Lions club of Byculla donated An LG 32 inch LCD Colour Television for the audiovisual room of the Institute. About 15 people from the Club had come to do the Presentation ceremony.

Sat 18th: Diwali Vacation of the Institute starts.

During the vacation Renovation work of First floor Principal’s Quarter, adjoining bathrooms, toilets and rooms on the East wing of the Institute started under supervision of Mr. Jamshed Bhiwandiwala. The work continued after the Institute re-opened.

During the vacation Master Dinshah P. Magol (Std.IV) went to undergo Navar at Udvada. Navar kriya on Mon. 10th November (Roj Din, mah Khordad).
 
September 2008
Mon 1st: II UNIT TEST ends.
Sat 13th: OPEN DAY for the II Unit Test for Std. I-X. The respective teachers Er. Khushru Panthaki, Er. Cyrus Sidhwa and Er. Kersi Karanjia, along with some parents went for the Open Day.
Wed 17th: Navar Bhantar exam of Master Dinshah P. Magol conducted by Er. Darayas P. Bajan at the Mewawala Agyari. Mstr. Magol was adjudged passed and was declared fit to undergo navar. Dinshah is to undergo navar at Udwada in the Diwali holidays.
Wed 17th– Sat 20th: SCOUT CAMP from D. P. Y. A. School to Saputara. 4 students of the Institute from Std. VIII-X went for the camp.
Sat 20th: All successful students went to MC DONALDS’ at Phoenix Mills Compound. The outing was sponsored by a Donor.
Sun 21st: Athornan Mandal – Zarthoshti Brothers Fund programme “KISSE- E-YAZDEZARD SHERIYAR” in the Institute Hall. All students attended.
Tue 23rd: Er. Shehrezad R. pavri won the third prize in English Elocution competion of school schildren organized by Form for Free Enterprise.
Sun 28th: Parents-Teachers-Management MEETING and PARENTS DAY.

Sat 2nd: Open Day at the D.P.Y.A. High School. Institute teachers went to see papers.
Sun 3rd: Students who passed in all subjects went to MacDonalds to celebrate their good results. – sponsored by Donor.

Sun 13th: All students and staff members went by bus to Albless Baug for Mumbai Zarthoshty Jashan Committees Jashan, Function and Vegetarian Lunch, at their invitation.
Sun 13th: Parent Teachers Association Meeting and Election at the DPYA High School. The Principal represented the Institute.
Mon 14th: The Junior students (Std. I-VI) went to the Ekadashi Fair in the evening accompanied by Senior college students.
Wed 16th: Meeting for children with learning disabilities in the D.P.Y.A. High School. Er. Kersi T. Karanjia attended the meeting.
Sat 19th: (Roj 5; mah 12).: Students of Std. V toX wrote the Nirang i Khrafstar Zadan in Pahlavi language. Several Hamdins take this Nirang from the Institute to be it put up in their houses as a talisman to ward of evil.
Mon 21st - 24th: I Unit Test of students of Std. I-VIII
Tue 22nd: Prof Yuhan Vevaina was invited by Athornan Mandal to deliver a lecture in the Institute Hall. The lecture on “Teaching and learning Zoroastrianism in the West was attended by about 75 people.
Sun 27th: Parents Day.
Wed 30th: TV 9 News channel came to do a brief shooting of students which will be incorporated on a Documentary on Parsees which may be aired in September or October.
 
June 2008
Sat. 14th: Institute re-opens after Vacation with 1 new student Master Shavir Poras Panthaki in Std. I.
Total strength of the Institute: 22 students (including 4 college students).
In all 10 students left Institute last year, 6 after giving S.S.C. (Onr, Er. Peshotan Katrak rejoined as College student), 1 had to go as he was a Slow learner, 3 - Masters Rushan and Fraron Balsara (Std. III & IV and Er. Neville P. Mandviwala (Std. V) left the Institute as per their parents wish, on account of their family circumstances.
One student, Er. Neville P. Mandviwala -underwent Navar during the May Vacation.
Mon. 16th: DPYA High School re-opens after vacation.

Tue 15th: All Senior Students went for the Farohar Films’ exhibition on Zoroastrian religion and history at Albless Baug. Er. Sherezad R. Pavri acted as the compere of the show, today an done the 16th.
Wed 16th: S.S.C. Exam of two Learning disability students gets over today.
Fri 20th: New Admission to the Institute and the D.P.Y.A. School of the following student: Std. I: 1) Shahvir Poras Panthaki.
Wed 23rd: Institute closes for May Vacation.

During the Vacation 1 student (Neville S. Mandviwala) will undergo Navar at Rustom Framna Agyari at Dadar and 1 student (Cherag S. Desai) will undergo Maratab in Navsari.

Sun 2nd: 14 of our students participated in the Creative Child Genius Competition organised by Mancherji E. Joshi Trust held at J.B.Vatcha Girls High School. One student – Mstr Farzan K. Dastur won the I Consolation Prize in junior category.
Tue 4th: Four senior students along with Er. Kersi T. Karanjia went for the Anniversay celebrations, programme and dinner of Parsi Resource Group.
Fri 7th: Std. IX exams of DPYA School starts.
Wed 12th: 1. S. S.C. Exams begin. Six students will appear.

2. The Uthamna of ex-school teacher Mr. Phiroze Jehangir Mogul, who served the Madress as a teacher for senior students from 197 to 1996, was performed in the Bhanter room of the Institute by our students and staff members. More than 70 relatives and friends of Mr. Mogul attended the ceremony.
Tue 21st: Jamshedi Navroz. All students went to the Agyari in the morning.

Sun 24th: Parents Day and Parent Teacher Management Meeting. Dasturji Khurshed Dastur was the only representative from the management side. The Principal asked the parents to consider the Open Day at DPYA School just to see papers and not to treat it as a parent’s day to feed and buy things for their children. There was a suggestion from one of the parents to develop a gymnasium at the Institute.

Sat 12th: Senior students went to receive Navar-Maratab prizes at Rustom Baug.
Sun 13th: * General Body Meeting and Lunch of Athornan Mandal at the Institute hall.

Tue 15th: 5 Junior students sang a Monajat at the International meet “Coming Together” in the Institute Hall.
Sat 19th: All students and staff members went for Peenaz Masani’s musical Programme ‘Dreamz’ at Shanmukhanada Hall. Tickets were sent by management of J.B.Vatch High School.
Sun 20th: * In the morning about 15 students from Vikhroli’s Godrej Quarters Religious Classes came for an educational programme to see the Institute and the way of life of our children. They were taken around by the Principal.

* Athornan Mandal – Zarthoshti Brothers Fund programme “Kisse- Zarthostiyane baste –Kustiyan.” All students attended.
Wed 23rd: * Std. I-IV went for Picnic to Tikujini Wadi from D.P.Y.A. High School.

* V-X Std. students went for Sports Heats to St. Xavier’s Ground, parel.
Thu 24th: Nine students went to receive prize and have dinner at the Bombay Parsee Association’s Programme at Cama Baug. The senior students conducted the Ham-bandagi.
Sat 26th: All students (except SSC) and staff went to Tarapore by bus for Jashan and Lunch to celebrate the Agyari Salgreh. They were invited by Er. Pallonji Dastoor.
Sun 27th: * Photo-Shoot of students for Institute Brochure by Mr. Sarosh Daruwalla.

* All students (except SSC) participated in a Drawing Competition on the subject life after death organized by two scholars from Zurich University – Prof. Dr. Dorothea Luddeckens and Prof. Rafael Walthert. Prizes and competition sponsored by the scholars.
